A three-legged sprint poses a real challenge for anyone, but imagine doing it for 12km?
That’s just what Discus Digital Print duo Pamela Dewar and Nathan Das-Gupta will be attempting when they take part in the HBF Run for Reason later this month.
Apart from attempting to not fall over too many times, the pair is aiming to raise some serious funds for Lifeline WA who provides crisis support and suicide prevention services.
Nathan says they were motivated to run for Lifeline WA after losing people they knew to suicide.
“Over the last 12 months, both Pam and I have known people all under the age of 30, all with young children who have taken their own lives. It really hits hard and highlights the importance of services being available to those in times of need so I greatly appreciate the important work of Lifeline WA,” says Nathan.
Pamela says the choice to run three-legged is about setting themselves a challenge to overcome together.
“Life can be full of obstacles and you need good support around you to help get through life’s tough times. I have a friend by my side, who’s there to pick me up if I fall, who motivates me at training and who will help me make it to the finish line,” said Pamela.
Lifeline WA CEO Lorna MacGregor is grateful for Pamela and Nathan’s involvement in this year’s HBF Run for Lifeline WA and is excited to see them run three-legged on the day.
“The HBF Run For a Reason is such a great way for people to get involved with Lifeline WA and contribute to making Western Australia a suicide safer community,” she said.
“Our services are all about ensuring Western Australians don’t face their problems alone, so we appreciate the significance of Nathan and Pamela tackling this challenge together to support Lifeline WA in helping those in times of crisis.”
The pair are used to working as a team at Mount Hawthorn based printing and signage company Discus Digital Print .
Their colleagues are barracking for them, with the WA company donating $500 to support them.
The HBF Run for a Reason will take on Sunday May 27, 2018. People who are interested in participating in the event can sign up at hbfrun.com.au.
