CREATIVE SPACES FOR ROTTNEST ISLAND AUTHORITY
WADJEMUP MUSEUM
THE BRIEF
Creative Spaces engaged Discus to deliver a range of graphics and signage needed for the refurbishment of Wadjemup Museum on Rottnest (Wadjemup) Island.
The fitout design goal was to create an interactive exhibition space that was engaging and enhanced the visitor’s understanding of the Island’s history.
Our team worked with Creative Spaces’ comprehensive signage schedule, and provided advice and recommendations where needed.

WHAT WE DELIVERED
We conducted a site survey and measure of the refurbished space, and recommended different products and signage applications as required.
A feature display was a three piece suspended image panel featuring a historical photograph in a curved wall section of the museum. We printed the artwork achieving a photographic quality result to self-adhesive vinyl and applied it to ACM panels, edge wrapping the sides. We also supplied the wire hanging system and installed these via the ceiling beams.
We produced and installed 18 hanging exhibition panels of various sizes used to display imagery and information related to the displays. We printed to self adhesive vinyl and applied to ACM, edge wrapping the sides. We then applied timber batons and D rings to the back to hang from the suspension track provided on site.
To the display cabinets we installed printed self adhesive vinyl to ACM and screw fixed the panels to the cabinetry.
We also reverse printed 20 dusted window graphics and installed these to the clear display drawers as a means of labelling and dating artefacts.
To the rear of the museum is a feature window graphic displaying a historical photographic. We printed this using our HP latex technology to dusted film and applied to the window in four pieces. It provides a beautiful effect with external light shining in.
Our team organised the packaging and freight of all signage and graphics items to the Island, and our sign services team stayed over night to complete the installation.
THE RESULT
Wadejump Museum’s signage and graphics provide a professional and high-end presentation for the refurbished museum.
As a means of showcasing and labelling imagery, information and artefacts, the graphics and signage help add to what is a beautifully designed space that respectfully honours the history of the Island and its people.
