HERDSMAN LAKE DISCOVERY CENTRE
THE BRIEF
The Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre is a unique place for school groups, community groups and the public to connect with and learn more about the unique wetlands and wildlife of Herdsman’s Lake.
Creative Spaces engaged Discus to produce and install a variety of exhibition graphics and signage as part of the refurbishment of the centre.
The project included over 90 signs to come together and create an interactive and engaging exhibit.

WHAT WE DELIVERED
Working to Creative Spaces’ comprehensive signage schedule and the client’s budget, we provided advice and recommendations on products and applications where needed.
We conducted a site measure of the centre prior to production, and our sign services team installed the graphics and signage in time for client handover.
Exhibition and display signage
A myriad of sign types were deployed for displays showcasing and labelling imagery, information and artefacts. These sign types included ACM signs, window graphics, wall graphics and magnetic signs.
The Discovery Room
We produced and installed wall graphics to all four walls of the Discovery Room. Special consideration had to be taken to not compromise the artwork design and placement of animals when working around window frames, ceiling beams, air conditioning units and the doorway.
We also produced cut out ACM signs and applied these to the wall graphics.
Mezzanine level
A key feature on the mezzanine level are the cut to shape self adhesive birds that we produced and installed to the painted ceiling. Precision install skills were required to not compromise the design in the tight ceiling area.
To the walls, we applied both ACM and reverse printed acrylics signs.
THE RESULT
We thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at Creative Spaces to help complete this transformed exhibition and display centre.
Over 90 signs have come together to build an interactive and engaging learning space that pays homage to the unique environment and wildlife of Herdsman Lake.
The use of a range of signage products has resulted in varying textures, depths and finishes, helping to add dimension and interest to the overall experience.
